Meet The Family The McGahey Family are Alex, Gill, Paul and Robin. Alex works part time for a locally based charity, Gill is a dental nurse, Paul is settled with his partner, Sophie, and they have a daughter, Grace; while Robin has obtained a good degree in Tourism Management and started work. Alex originally hails from Wiltshire, Gill from Surrey and the boys were born in Brackley in Northamptonshire. We all moved to Thame in 1986 and have lived here ever since. Alex's main hobby is genealogy which only commenced almost twelve years ago after Alex and Gill had each lost both of their parents, and the idea was to find out what we could so that Paul and Robin would know who their ancestors were. Gill's hobbies are reading, films and television, and gardening . The genealogy has now snowballed with researching being done on a world-wide basis (see other pages). Gill and I like travelling and in May 2000 we celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary in New York. Since then we spent almost four weeks at the end of 2001 travelling around the Far East and Australia where we met up with the Fitchett / Nicholls descendants in New South Wales; and the Beckingham families in Perth. 2002 saw us up the Eiffel Tower in France, visiting Mallorca for some rest and relaxation, and doing battle with the traffic in Rome, while 2003 had us in Cyprus for a family wedding, sightseeing in Spain and lazing in Gran Canaria. 2004 found us back in Mallorca and later in Central Europe, Prague, Vienna and Budapest, in the last place we had to replace stolen passports after making a police statement in Hungarian! 2005 has seen us celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary in Tenerife, a family trip to the Costa del Sol and a short break in Menorca. 2006 has seen another return to Mallorca, a first visit to Portugal and Alex's 60th in Tenerife has been and gone. 2007 has seen a rail trip to the Italian Lakes and a first visit to Crete, and a few days of winter sun again in The Canaries. |
